Resurfacing in the West Valley
Much of the West Valley gets its water from more than one provider, so the first step is checking your bill. Goodyear splits between the city and Liberty Utilities, Surprise between the city and EPCOR, and Buckeye runs several separate groundwater systems.
The drain rules vary too. Goodyear wants a free drain authorization first, Surprise and Avondale bar retention basins or HOA common areas, and Glendale's code keeps pool water out of the street. The table below sums it up.
- Glendale pool resurfacing
- Peoria pool resurfacing
- Surprise pool resurfacing
- Goodyear pool resurfacing
- Avondale pool resurfacing
- Buckeye pool resurfacing
| City | Tap water hardness | Where a drained pool goes |
|---|---|---|
| Glendale | Hard, no number published | Yard or cleanout, never the street |
| Peoria | Varies by area | Keep it on your property |
| Surprise | 13.2 to 17.5 gpg, city system (2022) | Yard or cleanout, never septic |
| Goodyear | Varies; city or Liberty | Free drain authorization first |
| Avondale | About 24 gpg (2017) | Cleanout, not HOA common areas |
| Buckeye | Groundwater, varies by system | Ask your sewer provider |
Before you pick a finish
Plaster still works
Bright white plaster is the lowest cost finish and gives classic aqua water. It is a solid choice if budget comes first.
Quartz for sun
Quartz blends hold their color better under strong sun than plain plaster. It sits in the middle on price.
Book before the spring rush
Phoenix-area builders report a spring rush starting around March, with more open dates from December to February. Goodyear advises against refilling from January to March, so ask about timing there.
